Dating back to 1880, this heirloom Alaska shelling pea is a versatile and reliable variety, maturing earlier than most. Its short vines (up to 90cm or 36") thrive in cool soil, making it ideal for northern regions. Some support may be needed for the heavy yields of round, straight, pale green pods, each filled with 5-8 smooth peas. For a delicious soup, allow the plants to mature for 80 days before drying.
